Tempe, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Jermaine Marshall scored 27 points on just 16 field goal attempts in leading the Arizona State Sun Devils to a 76-62 non- conference win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders at Wells Fargo Arena.
Marshall connected on 7-of-10 shots from beyond the arc and Jahii Carson added 16 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds for Arizona State (10-2). Jordan Bachynski scored 12 points and had a team-high eight rebounds to go with seven blocks.
Jordan Tolbert was the top scorer for the Red Raiders (7-5) with 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field. He also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Dejan Kravic had a double-double for the Red Raiders as well, scoring 12 points and totaling 11 rebounds.
The Sun Devils took a 34-25 lead into the locker room at the half after holding the Red Raiders to just 29 percent shooting from the field in the first period. On the other side the Sun Devils didn't commit a single turnover and hit 43.3 percent of their shots from the field.
While the Red Raiders raised their percentage to 42.9 shooting in the second half they could not put a dent into the lead. The Sun Devils hit 7-of-9 attempts from 3-point range to hold on for the win.
The Red Raiders made just 1-of-13 shots from 3-point territory while Arizona State got 30 points from beyond the arc.
