Berkeley, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Dwight Powell registered a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds, adding six assists, as the Stanford Cardinal beat the California Golden Bears, 80-69, in a Pac-12 contest at Haas Pavilion.
Chasson Randle added 19 points for the Cardinal (15-7, 6-4 Pac-12), as they won their second straight. Anthony Brown added 16 points, while Josh Huestis had four steals to go along with his nine points.
Justin Cobbs finished with 24 points for the Golden Bears (15-8, 6-4), who have lost four of their last five. Tyrone Wallace scored 21 points as David Kravish chipped in 12. Richard Solomon pulled down nine rebounds, but shot just 1-of-7 from the floor.
Stanford made 44.8 percent of its shots from the floor in the first half, including 6-of-12 from 3-point range, as it led 42-36 at the break. California connected on 42.4 percent of its field goal attempts.
The Cardinal connected on 41.7 percent of their field goal tries in the second period but, more importantly, made 18-of-23 from the free-throw line as they coasted to the win.
Stanford outscored the hosts by a 28-12 margin at the charity stripe overall.
