Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Trae Golden sank a 3-pointer in the final seconds to propel the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to a 58-55 victory over the Charlotte 49ers in a non-conference thriller at Halton Arena.
Golden finished with a game-high 24 points for Georgia Tech (9-4). Marcus Georges-Hunt added 10 points and Daniel Miller had nine points to match nine rebounds.
Denzel Ingram hit 8-of-10 shots and had 20 points for Charlotte (8-4). Willie Clayton tacked on 11 points and nine boards.
Georgia Tech entered the break, leading 27-24. The Yellow Jackets shot at just a 39.3 percent clip in the period, but it was enough to top Charlotte, which hit on just 35.7 percent.
The 49ers chipped away at a 51-42 deficit with three minutes to play, using a 13-4 run to tie the game at 55-55 with 10 seconds left. However, the rally fell short when Golden hit his game-winner.
Georgia Tech lost despite having twice as many turnovers (16) as Charlotte (eight). The Yellow Jackets earned a 41-32 edge on the glass.
