Recap: Coll of Charleston vs. Furman

Charleston, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Stitt tallied 21 points as the College of Charleston Cougars routed the Furman Paladins, 89-55, in a non- conference matchup at TD Arena.

Stitt shot 7-of-12 from the field, including 4-of-8 from long distance for the Cougars (2-3). Canyon Barry (15 points), Adjehi Baru (14) and Johnathan Burroughs-Cook (14) were also big contributors for Charleston.

Stephen Croone notched 20 points for the Paladins (2-2), including 6-of-6 from the free throw line. William Gates, Jr. added another 13 points in the losing effort.

The Cougars shot a red-hot 53.3 percent from the field during the first half and entered halftime with a 37-30 lead. The Paladins stayed in the game, however, shooting only slightly worse at 48 percent.

In the second half, though, it was all Charleston. The Cougars improved to an impressive 60.7 percent from the field, including 9-of-14 from 3-point range. The Paladins, shooting a hopeless 24.2 percent from the floor for the half, were buried by as many as 38 points late in the game.

The Cougars outscored their opponent, 38-22, in the paint and also, 18-8, in points off turnovers.
