Recap: North Dakota vs. Northern Colorado

Grand Forks, ND (SportsNetwork.com) - Troy Huff converted 15-of-17 free-throw attempts en route to a game-high 34 points as North Dakota defeated the Northern Colorado Bears, 94-90, in a Big Sky Conference battle at the Sioux Center.

North Dakota (15-14, 12-7 Big Sky) also received a strong showing from Aaron Anderson, who went 11-of-14 at the charity stripe to net 20 points. Jaron Nash added 14 points, Jamal Webb dealt out seven assists and Huff pulled down a game-high six rebounds.

Derrick Barden paced the Bears (16-12, 10-9) with 17 points, while Tevin Svihovec scored 16 points. Tate Unruh and Tim Huskisson contributed 13 and 10 points, respectively.

North Dakota was unstoppable in the opening period as it connected on 79.2 percent of its field goal tries and converted 14-of-18 at the charity stripe. Northern Colorado went into the intermission trailing, 56-43, despite knocking down 59.1 percent of its shots from the floor and 15-of-18 tries at the free- throw line in the first half.

The Bears heated up to sink 61.3 percent of their shots from the field and limited the hosts to just 38.5 percent efficiency from the floor after the break. North Dakota never let the visitors get any closer than four points as it made good on 18-of-24 free-throw tries to keep Northern Colorado at bay.

The loss was the fourth-straight for the Bears, who were outrebounded, 33-16, by North Dakota.
