Recap: Rutgers vs. Temple

Piscataway, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Kadeem Jack scored 18 points as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights earned a 71-66 win over the Temple Owls in the American Athletic Conference debut for each team at the RAC.

Wally Judge added 12 points and nine rebounds for Rutgers (7-7, 1-0 AAC), which has won three straight. J.J. Moore produced 12 points as well and Myles Mack netted 10 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists.

Quenton DeCosey sank 6-of-7 shots from beyond the arc and finished with 25 points for Temple (5-6, 0-1), which also got 19 points from Dalton Pepper. Anthony Lee connected on just 3-of-15 shots from the floor but did collect a game-high 13 rebounds.

Thanks to 11 offensive rebounds in the first half, Temple was able to go into the break tied with Rutgers, 30-30. The Owls connected on 31.6 percent of their field goal tries in the period, compared to 41.4 percent from the Scarlet Knights, but they had an 8-2 edge in second chance points.

Temple continued to struggle from the field in the second half, when it connected on just 35.3 percent from the floor. Rutgers was able to separate itself by shooting at a 50 percent clip.

The game featured 20 lead changes and nine ties. Temple lost despite a 14-2 edge in points off turnovers.
