El Paso, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Julian Washburn scored a game-high 20 points as the Miners of Texas-El Paso captured a 70-55 win over the Montana State Bobcats in non-conference action at the Don Haskins Center.
The only other UTEP (8-5) player to score in double figures was reserve Cedrick Lang who not only tallied 10 points, he also pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds as the team won for the third time in as many games.
The Bobcats (5-6) were paced by Terrell Brown who dropped in 10 points, one of only two players to convert more than just a pair of field goals as the squad had a three-game win streak snapped.
Montana State scored the first basket of the contest and led by two a couple of times in the early going, but the Miners steadily built a double-digit advantage and eventually claimed a 40-23 lead at the break.
After connecting on 54.2 percent from the field in the first half, the Miners dipped to 40.9 percent over the final 20 minutes, en route to the 15-point win.
Texas-El Paso suffered 18 turnovers, but at the same time forced 15 miscues and held the visitors to just 34.5 percent accuracy from the field on the night.
