San Marcos, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Joel Wright scored 19 points to lead four players in double figures for the Texas State Bobcats, who defeated the ULM Warhawks, 65-57, in a Sun Belt Conference tilt at Strahan Coliseum.
Wes Davis added 12 points for Texas State (7-15, 3-6 Sun Belt), which had lost four of its previous five. Also in double figures for the Bobcats were Gordon Ball (11 points) and Reid Koenen (10).
Jayon James netted 18 points and Tylor Ongwae tacked on 14 for ULM (7-11, 4-6), which has lost four of its last five.
Texas State shot a scorching 60 percent from the floor in the first half, enabling it to take a 37-28 lead at halftime, despite a 52.3 percent shooting effort from ULM in the period.
Despite falling to 41.7 percent shooting in the second half, which was below the 50 percent rate from the Warhawks, the Bobcats managed to hold on thanks to slight scoring advantages from beyond the arc (6-3) and at the free-throw line (6-4).
Texas State outscored ULM 20-15 in points off turnovers and had a 30-23 edge on the boards.
