Recap: ULM vs. Samford

Monroe, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Amos Olatayo scored 22 points to lead the way at the ULM Warhawks coasted to an 86-52 decision over the Samford Bulldogs in a non-conference matchup at the Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

Jayson James and Tylor Ongwae each had 14 points apiece for the Warhawks (1-1) while Daniel Grieves chipped in 13. James also finished with a team-high nine rebounds and Nick Coppola dealt out six of ULM's 19 assists.

Tim Williams led the Bulldogs (1-3) with 14 points and six rebounds. Tyler Hood chipped in 12 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the floor.

ULM shot 50 percent from the field in the first half to take a 44-27 into the break. The Bulldogs committed 11 turnovers in the opening period which the Warhawks converted into 15 points.

Samford was limited to 28.1 percent shooting from the field in the second half and went 1-of-11 from 3-point range. The Warhawks' bench outscored the Bulldogs' reserves, 26-9, in the second stanza to deny the visitors any chance of a rally after the break.

ULM registered 14 fastbreak points while the Bulldogs scored all of their points in the half court. The home team also dominated on the inside and finished with a 56-36 edge in points in the paint.
