Valparaiso, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Coleman scored 16 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Valparaiso Crusaders crushed the James Madison Dukes, 81-49, in non-conference play at the ARC.
Alec Peters and LaVonte Dority pitched in with 15 points apiece for the Crusaders (3-3), followed by Lexus Williams with 12 and four steals. Moussa Gueye scored just four points, but led the way on the glass with a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Dukes (2-4) were paced by Taylor Bessick and Charles Cooke with 14 points apiece, while Jackson Kent added 11 points on just 3-of-11 shooting from the field.
JMU knocked down a total of just eight field goals in the first half and shot 1-of-7 behind the 3-point line, allowing the Crusaders to move out to a 35-22 lead at the break. Valpo connected on 52.0 percent from the floor in the period.
In the second half the hosts improved their accuracy to an impressive 64.0 percent, including 5-of-9 beyond the arc, en route to the comfortable win.
James Madison ended up with more turnovers (18) than field goals (16), not to mention behind beaten soundly on the glass, 32-17.
