West Long Branch, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Former Massachusetts head football coach Kevin Morris was named Monmouth's new offensive coordinator on Tuesday.

Morris, who has nearly 30 years of collegiate coaching experience, compiled a 16-17 record in UMass' final three seasons on the FCS level from 2009-11.

Also the Worcester Tech head coach for six seasons from 1993-98, Morris was Yale's offensive coordinator the last two seasons.

"I've known Kevin for a number of years and I'm excited to have him join our coaching staff at Monmouth," Hawks head coach Kevin Callahan said. "His many years of experience and his extensive knowledge of the quarterback position will be a great asset to our program. Kevin has recruited the state of New Jersey throughout his career and that will enhance our overall recruiting efforts. His experience not only as a coordinator but also as a head coach will be extremely beneficial."

Monmouth is joining the Big South Conference this year after going 6-6 as an independent last season.
