Tempe, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Marion Grice scored another two touchdowns as the Arizona State Sun Devils rolled to a 54-13 beating of the Colorado Buffaloes in a Pac-12 skirmish at Sun Devil Stadium.
Grice had 88 yards and two scores on 13 carries and also had 46 yards on a pair of receptions for Arizona State (4-2, 2-1 Pac-12). Grice has scored 15 total touchdowns this season, which leads the conference. R.J. Robinson had 69 yards and an additional score on the ground. Taylor Kelly also rushed for a touchdown while totaling 233 yards and two scores on 9-of-19 passing. Jaelen Strong caught three passes for 109 yards and a touchdown as well.
Sefo Liufau threw for 169 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-26 passing but was also intercepted twice after taking over for starter Connor Wood (0-of-4, INT) at quarterback for Colorado (2-3, 0-3). Nelson Spruce caught five balls for 42 yards and a touchdown and Michael Adkins added 62 yards on 16 carries.
The Sun Devils sprinted out of the gate, scoring a touchdown on the fifth play of the game with a 68-yard strike from Kelly to Strong.
After forcing a three-and-out from the Buffaloes, Arizona State scored yet again when Grice carried the ball in from eight yards out. The Sun Devils were successful on a two-point conversion attempt to claim a 15-0 lead before the first five minutes had even passed.
After another three-and-out from Colorado, Arizona State got inside the red zone again but this time settled for a 26-yard field goal from Zane Gonzalez.
Grice found his way into the end zone again before the first quarter finished, when he scored on a one-yard run with 4:45 remaining in the period.
Colorado finally answered early in the second quarter as Liufau threw a 10- yard touchdown pass to Spruce on the opening play of the period. The two-point conversion attempt that followed failed and less than two minutes later Davon Coleman caught a one-yard touchdown pass from Kelly.
It wouldn't be the last time the Sun Devils would score before halftime as they added a safety, a pair of field goals from Gonzalez (41 and 20 yards) as well as a 17-yard touchdown run from Kelly before the break.
Arizona State slowed down a bit in the second half as Robinson scored on a one-yard touchdown run with 3:22 to play in the third quarter.
Christian Powell managed an eight-yard touchdown run early on in the fourth quarter for the Buffaloes to account for the final score of the game.
Arizona State nearly doubled up Colorado in total yards (532-268) while having 12 more first downs (29-17).
