Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - John O'Korn threw two touchdown passes as the Houston Cougars closed out their regular season with a 34-0 victory over the SMU Mustangs at Reliant Stadium.
O'Korn completed 25-of-41 passes for 245 yards and two interceptions for the Cougars (8-4, 5-3 AAC), who snapped a three-game skid.
Daniel Spencer caught seven passes for 100 yards and a score, Greg Ward Jr. hauled in five passes for 48 yards and a touchdown and Ryan Jackson carried the ball seven times for 62 yards and a score.
Neal Burcham connected on 27-of-52 passes for 212 yards and three interceptions for the Mustangs (5-6, 4-3), who need to win their Dec. 7 bout with UCF to become bowl eligible. Starting quarterback Garrett Gilbert missed Friday's game with a knee injury.
Prescott Line carried the ball 17 times for 81 yards in defeat.
The Cougars scored a touchdown on their first play from scrimmage. Spencer caught a 67-yard TD pass from O'Korn.
Burcham was intercepted by Adrian McDonald with less than eight minutes remaining in the opening stanza. Kyle Bullard made a 27-yard field goal to make it 10-0 Houston.
The Cougars got touchdowns from Ward and Kent Brooks in the second period.
The third quarter featured Jackson's 37-yard TD run and Bullard's 27-yard field goal.
