Monroe, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Michael Gordon tallied 131 total yards and a career-high four touchdowns, as the Arkansas State Red Wolves crushed the ULM Warhawks, 42-14, in Sun Belt Conference action at Malone Stadium.
Gordon had 72 rushing yards and 59 receiving yards for Arkansas State (5-4, 3-1 Sun Belt), which has won three of four. Adam Kennedy completed 16-of-23 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown while also leading the team with 102 rushing yards and two scores. Julian Jones (four receptions, 79 yards) and J.D. McKissic (seven receptions, 75 yards) were both reliable targets for Kennedy.
For ULM (5-5, 3-2), Kolton Browning completed less than half his passes (17- of-37) for 191 yards with two touchdowns and two picks. The signal caller also rushed for a team-high 55 yards. Rashon Ceaser finished with five catches for a career-high 118 yards and two touchdowns.
The first score of the contest came with 49 seconds left in the first quarter when Kennedy connected with Gordon on a 51-yard touchdown to give Arkansas State a 7-0 lead. ULM tied the game as time expired in the opening frame, as Browning completed a 59-yard touchdown pass to Ceaser.
Arkansas State wasted no time getting back on top. Less than a minute into the second quarter, Gordon plunged into the end zone from one yard out to give the Red Wolves a 14-7 advantage.
Pinned on their own 10-yard line with under two minutes left in the second quarter, the Warhawks drove the length of the field before halftime and scored on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Browning to Ceaser.
Arkansas State took control of the contest in the third quarter. Gordon added another one-yard touchdown run midway through the frame, and Kennedy rushed in a score of his own at the 1:40 mark from eight yards out.
After Arkansas State set itself up deep in ULM territory following a blocked punt, Kennedy ran in another score from four yards out with 9:26 left in the game. Gordon scored his fourth touchdown of the contest later in the fourth on an eight-yard rush.
Arkansas State was outstanding on third down, converting 8-of-16 attempts, while ULM was only 2-of-14.
