Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Pinch-hitter Salvador Perez's bases- clearing three-run double in the eighth inning pushed the Kansas City Royals past the Cleveland Indians, 10-7, in the rubber match of a three-game set.
With the game tied at 7-7 in the eighth inning, Cleveland's pitchers helped out Kansas City. Bryan Shaw (0-2) walked and beamed the two batters he faced, while Rich Hill intentionally walked Jarrod Dyson after a passed ball, all with no outs. Matt Albers served up the double.
Lorenzo Cain had a grand slam and Eric Hosmer added a two-run shot for the Royals, who have won three of their last four games.
Luke Hochevar (2-1), who pitched the eighth, was the only Royals pitcher who didn't allow a hit. Greg Holland collected his 19th save of the season.
Drew Stubbs went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and four RBI while Carlos Santana had a two-run double for the Indians, who end their 11-game road trip with a 7-4 record.
