Recap Kansas City at Detroit

Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Omar Infante drove in three runs and the Kansas City Royals surged to their ninth straight win with an 11-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.

Alex Gordon and Mike Moustakas each hit a two-run home run for the Royals, who jumped a half-game ahead of Detroit for first place in the AL Central.

Yordano Ventura (5-5) gave up three runs on eight hits with a pair of walks and four strikeouts over seven innings in the win.

Ian Kinsler hit a solo home run while Miguel Cabrera and Austin Jackson each had an RBI for Detroit, which has dropped the first two of this four-game set.

Max Scherzer (8-3) had a two-start winning streak stopped as he was beat up for 10 runs on 10 hits and a walk in four-plus innings of work.

Kansas City grabbed the lead in the second inning as the team plated seven runs in the frame.

Gordon hit a homer after Billy Butler singled, and Moustakas did the same after Salvador Perez walked. Later in the frame, Infante hit a two-run single and Eric Hosmer followed with a run-scoring groundout.

The Tigers answered in the home half with a pair of runs as an Alcides Escobar bobble of a Nick Castellanos grounder scored Victor Martinez, and Jackson followed with an RBI single to make it a 7-2 game.

Kansas City got into double digits in the fifth as Perez and Jarrod Dyson hit RBI singles, and a bases-loaded walk to Infante pushed across another for a 10-2 lead.

Cabrera worked a bases-loaded walk of his own in the home fifth, while Lorenzo Cain singled home a run for Kansas City in the seventh.

Kinsler's home run to lead off the eighth inning accounted for the final score.
