Rodriguez opts to remain with Pirates

Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Wandy Rodriguez has exercised the $13 million option on his contract for the 2014 season.

The Houston Astros will reportedly pick up $5.5 million of the deal for the left-hander. Rodriguez was traded on July 24, 2012 from the Astros to the Pirates.

Rodriguez didn't pitch after June 5 this past season due to a forearm injury. The 34-year-old went 6-4 in 12 starts with a 3.59 earned run average.
