Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Los Angeles Lakers center Pau Gasol will be held out of the team's six remaining games prior to the All-Star break as he recovers from a groin strain.
Gasol received a platelet-rich plasma injection on his groin on Monday and did not join the Lakers for their current road trip, which begins Tuesday in Minnesota. The four-time All-Star will be re-evaluated during the team's off period from Feb. 14-18.
The 33-year-old had been playing very well at the time of the injury, having recorded 20 or more points in each of his last 10 games and posting six double-doubles over that span. Gasol averaged 20.8 points, 11.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 15 January games, his best monthly averages of the season.
Over 44 total games in 2013-14, Gasol has averaged 17.0 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
