Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - The San Francisco 49ers activated wide receiver Michael Crabtree from the physically unable to perform list on Tuesday.
Crabtree tore his Achilles tendon during organized team activities back in May, and had surgery a bit later to repair the injury.
Placed on the PUP list before the start of the season, he was cleared to practice on Nov. 5 and the team had a 21-day window to evaluate his capabilities before determining whether to activate him or not.
San Francisco head coach Jim Harbaugh stated after Monday's win against Washington that he expected Crabtree to be on the field for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.
Crabtree enjoyed a breakout season last year, finishing with 85 catches for 1,105 yards and nine touchdowns.
Originally selected 10th overall in the 2009 draft, Crabtree has caught 260 passes for 3,345 yards and 21 touchdowns in 58 career games with the 49ers.
To make room on the roster, the team released quarterback McLeod Bethel- Thompson.
