Lake Forest, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Bears will likely have their starting quarterback for Sunday's critical NFC North clash with the Detroit Lions.
Bears coach Marc Trestman announced Thursday that Jay Cutler, who suffered a groin injury in Week 7, has been cleared to play after missing Monday night's game at Green Bay. Cutler is expected to start against the Lions despite the initial prognosis suggesting he'd be sidelined a minimum of four weeks.
Josh McCown completed 22-of-41 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns in the 27-20 win over the Packers.
Cutler has thrown for 1,658 yards with 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season.
The Bears, Lions and Packers are all tied for first in the division at 5-3.
