Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Mike James left Monday night's game against the Miami Dolphins in the first quarter with a fractured ankle.
James carried the ball five times for 41 yards on the opening possession. On the play he was injured, James rushed up the middle for three yards down to the Miami 1-yard line. Dolphins linebacker Dannell Ellerbe tackled James from behind and appeared to land on the left ankle of James.
James was taken to the locker room on a cart. Bucs coach Greg Schiano confirmed the severity of the injury after the game.
With Doug Martin on injured reserve, Brian Leonard and Bobby Rainey are the only healthy running backs on the Tampa Bay roster.
