The second game of a Monday Night Football double-header will feature the San Francisco 49ers playing host to their NFC West rival Los Angeles Rams. Tonight will mark the first time since the 1994 season that the Rams will take the field for a regular season football game under the Los Angeles moniker.
Arizona and Seattle figure to be the strength of the NFC West yet again and both teams have Super Bowl aspirations. The Cardinals’ championship window with quarterback Carson Palmer may be closing, which is why the team traded for pass rusher Chandler Jones.
Two seasons removed from a Super Bowl victory, the Seahawks still hold several championship pieces — quarterback Russell Wilson, both kickers, receiver Doug Baldwin and much of a stifling defense that revolves around Richard Sherman, Michael Bennett and Bobby Wagner.
Super Bowl or bust? That might seem dramatic, but it also rings true for the Cardinals this season. After winning the NFC West and advancing to the NFC Championship Game, the Cardinals should be satisfied with nothing less than playing in the final game of the season.
