Toronto Blue Jays Ready For World Series Run

In April, the Toronto Blue Jays should have been the class of the American League East — at least on paper. Thankfully, baseball games aren’t played on paper, they’re played on grass and dirt — except at the Rogers Center in Toronto where the game is played on turf.

Major League Baseball is promoting an effort to identify the best four players in each team’s history with their "Franchise Four." We selected our choices for Mt. Rushmores a few years ago. Here are updated versions for all 30 teams. Who are the four baseball players that have risen above all others for each organization? The question sounds simple, right? Not so fast. Let the arguments begin.

Who Should Win the 2015 MLB All-Star Game "Final Vote"?

On Monday, MLB announced its rosters for the 2015 All-Star Game in Cincinnati on July 14. Much has been made in recent weeks about the voting process in which players are chosen. The starters for both the American and National League are voted upon by the fans — which makes the prize for the All-Star game winner (home-field advantage in the World Series for the winning league) completely fraudulent.

Four Potential Trade Suitors for the Rockies' Troy Tulowitzki

When healthy, Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is one of baseball’s most complete and exciting players. The problem is Tulowitzki is hardly healthy. When Tulo is on the diamond, he is one of the elite, five-tool players in the game and potentially one of the faces of baseball.

2014 MLB All-Star Team Rosters: Our Picks

What the rosters would look like if Athlon selected the All-Star teams.
On Sunday night, July 6, MLB will announce the All-Star teams for the big game at Minneapolis on July 15. As always, fan voting will determine the starting position players for each league. Players vote for reserves and pitchers with managers filling out the teams. Rosters consist of 34 players — that’s right, 34 — and each club must be represented. In advance of the big announcement, here are my selections for the two rosters.

Colorado Rockies 2014 Preview

Rox have a .500 record in sight
The Rockies can’t afford to lose Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez for extended periods again. If Brett Anderson stays healthy, he should give the rotation four dependable starters, and the bullpen should be better. Their first winning season since 2010 certainly seems possible. And with improved offense from Nolan Arenado to go with his magnificent defense and maybe a rejuvenated Justin Morneau, the Rockies might truly surprise and end up playing meaningful games late in the season.

The Rockies improved by 10 wins to 74 victories under first-year manager Walt Weiss but are coming off consecutive last-place finishes for the first time in their 21-year history. The club gave Weiss a three-year contract and then embarked on a very busy offseason.
