Saturday brought chaos to college football, creating nearly a complete overhaul in the rankings after six of the top 10 teams went down in defeat.
No. 3 Florida State made the most impressive statement of the weekend, demolishing then-No. 3 Clemson 51-14 in Death Valley. The Seminoles became the first team to score 50 or more points at Clemson. The loss dropped the Tigers to No. 10.
Top-ranked Alabama managed to tighten its stranglehold on the No. 1 spot in the Legends Poll.
Notre Dame did its part. The Irish knocked off USC on Saturday and earned a spot in January's BCS championship game.
But even though Notre Dame finished the regular season unbeaten and even though it received more first place votes (10) than Alabama (7), Alabama edged out Notre Dame for the No. 1 spot in the Legends Poll.
