Of the 17 USA Olympic Men’s Basketball Teams, the 1992 Dream Team remains the gold standard.

The 2016 United States Olympic Men’s Basketball Team is expected to soar to the gold medal in Rio. Even without LeBron James, Chris Paul, Steph Curry, Russell Westbrook and a handful of other NBA All-Stars who declined an invite, Team USA is by far the best team in the tournament. But where does this Olympic team stack up with previous Team USA squads?

Here’s a rankings rundown of the 17 USA men’s basketball teams in Olympic history:

Kevin Durant is likely out for the season

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s season just keeps getting worse.

In the same week that power forward and defensive linchpin Serge Ibaka was reported to be out for up to a month and a half, the team also learned that they’re losing reigning MVP Kevin Durant indefinitely.

Thunder lose Serge Ibaka after knee surgery

The hurt just keeps on coming for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Power forward Serge Ibaka — a candidate for Defensive Player of the Year — will join reigning MVP Kevin Durant on the bench, after undergoing successful arthroscopic surgery to his right knee.

Ibaka, according to Thunder P.R., is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Russell Westbrook notches seventh triple-double

Welcome to history, Russell Westbrook.

The Oklahoma City Thunder point guard has been carving out a pretty significant page in the NBA encyclopedia these days. With his seventh triple-double of the season — his fifth in six games — Westbrook pushed the Thunder to a 108-104 home victory against the Toronto Raptors yesterday, and entered some pretty rare air.

Russell Westbrook is surging into the MVP conversation

Not since the 1950’s has the NBA seen a team have consecutive MVP campaigns from two different players. Bob Cousy won it for the Boston Celtics in 1957, followed by Bill Russell in 1958.

The Oklahoma City Thunder currently look as close to matching that feat as anyone has since. With reigning MVP Kevin Durant sidelined about half of the year with foot issues, point guard Russell Westbrook has all but put the team on his back with his terrific play.
