Orlando Apollos Roster (AAF Football)

This AAF team will have plenty of Florida ties, including its Hall of Fame head coach

It's only fitting that the Orlando Apollos of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) are led by a Florida football legend. Steve Spurrier made a name for himself at the University of Florida, first as the 1966 Heisman Trophy winner and then as the head coach of the Gators from 1990-2001 when he won 122 games, six SEC titles, and the 1996 national title.

Now, four years removed from his last coaching job (head coach of South Carolina from 2005-15), the 73-year-old College Football Hall of Fame member (as both player and coach) has come out of retirement to lead the Sunshine State's AAF franchise. The Apollos are the eighth professional franchise to be located in Orlando area, which is pretty impressive considering the NFL has never had a team there.

The Orlando Apollos will call UCF's Spectrum Stadium home and are hoping the Knights' recent success (25-1 the past two seasons) rubs off on them in the AAF's inaugural season. The Apollos also will have plenty of Florida representation beyond Spurrier, as 29 of the 52 players on the roster played their college ball in the Sunshine State.
