Mike Zimmer is out as the head coach in Minnesota and while Kevin O’Connell is in, the Vikings' roster remains largely unchanged.
Will O’Connell and new offensive coordinator Wes Phillips be able to take them to the next level?
Clearly, oddsmakers are high on the Vikings this year, setting their win total at 9.5 despite posting back-to-back losing records.
Whether the Vikings win as a team or not, there’s no question their players are great for fantasy football and there are plenty of ways to bet on them. Here are some Vikings’ player props that are worth taking a look at.
Kirk Cousins Over 31.5 passing TDs (-110)
Last year Cousins passed for 4,221 yards and 33 touchdowns in a run-heavy offense and he finished as PFF’s sixth-highest graded QB. He passed for 35 touchdowns the previous season. Kevin O’Connell helped lead Stafford to a 41-touchdown campaign in Los Angeles last year, so why would Cousins go backward? He certainly has all the weapons he needs to exceed this prop.
Thielen over 7.5 receiving TDs (-110)
Thielen caught 14 touchdown passes in 2020 in 15 games and he caught 10 touchdown passes last season in only 13 games played. Thielen’s 86.7 percent red-zone catch rate led all wide receivers in 2021. Justin Jefferson also caught 10 touchdowns last year, but did so in 17 games, so don’t worry about Jefferson stealing all the red-zone work. Thielen is clearly Cousin’s go-to guy in the end zone.
Justin Jefferson over 1350.5 receiving yards (-110)
Kevin O’Connell was in charge of the offense for the Rams in 2021 and, well, you know where this is going. Is it fair to expect Jefferson to have a Cooper Kupp-like season in 2022? Yep. Jefferson continues to smash records, logging the most receiving yards (3,016) in a player's first two seasons in the history of the NFL. Jefferson recorded 108 catches and 1606 yards in 2021, and he’s only 23. Now he has a head coach and OC that want to throw on early downs. Smash the over.
