Through two weeks of the 2022 NFL season, underdogs own an 18-13-1 Against The Spread (58.1 percent) mark. In Week 2, bettors found six teams favored by more than seven points but as always oddsmakers are quick to make weekly adjustments to their power rankings.
In Week 3, the betting board of 16 games finds only one team (LA Chargers) listed as a touchdown favorite.
Our exotic wager for this week will focus on three small road favorites (all less than a field goal) that will enable us to avoid the “juice” and create a plus-odds parlay ticket.
In this type of investment, bettors are afforded the opportunity to use several (two or more) teams combined into one “exotic bet.” A parlay wager combines multiple teams where each “leg” of the bet must win for the parlay to cash.
San Francisco 49ers Monelyine -120
Following the devastating injury to quarterback Trey Lance, the 49ers have handed the reins back to Jimmy Garoppolo. San Francisco, who has covered four straight on the road dating back to last season, are 8-2 ATS over their last 10 games. In Week 3, San Francisco will head to Denver to face Russell Wilson and the Broncos. Respected money in Vegas is not impressed with new head coach Nathaniel Hackett who is off to an 0-2 ATS start and the fans at Empower Field at Mile High will be booing the home team for the second consecutive week.
New Orleans Saints ML -145
Both the Saints and Panthers are 0-2 ATS in the early going, but respected money in Vegas is backing one glaring trend between the NFC South rivals. The Panthers are 6-19-1 ATS (24 percent) over their last 26 games at Bank of America Stadium. New Orleans, who is expected to welcome back star running Alvin Kamara (ribs), has beaten Carolina in eight of the last 10 meetings.
Las Vegas Raiders ML -125
In Week 2, the Raiders blew a 20-point halftime lead and are now 4-9 ATS (30.7 percent) over their last 13 games. This is a MUST-WIN spot for the Raiders who can not afford to drop to a 0-3 in the AFC West. The Titans, who are a disappointing 3-8 ATS (27 percent) over their last 11 games, have serious issues on their offensive line which has led to only 107 rushing yards for running back Derrick Henry through the first two weeks. The Raiders are the more talented club on both sides of the ball.
