Through three weeks of the 2022 NFL season, underdogs have posted a lucrative 28-18-2 (60.8 percent) against the spread (ATS). Sharp bettors in Vegas continue to heavily invest in NFL teaser wagers, looking to move the game spreads in their favor.
In Week 4 we will target three home teams moving the odds through several prime football betting numbers (3,7,10). In addition, the three teams in this wager have been solid in the opening weeks of the season posting a combined 6-3 SU and ATS record.
In this type of investment, bettors are afforded the opportunity to use several (two or more) teams combined into one “exotic bet”, shifting the line in your favor. There are three main NFL teaser offerings readily available at every sportsbook: 6, 6.5 and 7 points. The more points you use on the teaser the lower the payout will be, however, the more teams you include in the teaser bet the higher the payout will be.
In the first leg of our 7-point teaser investment, we will target Lamar Jackson and the Ravens hosting Josh Allen and the Bills. Jackson is playing at an MVP level, is 37-12 (.755) as a starter, and now he returns home to M&T Bank Stadium where he has won 22 of 29 games. The Bills' defense, specifically the secondary, has been hit hard with injuries. Under Jim Harbaugh, the Ravens are 5-0 ATS in their last five games when listed as home underdogs. In this wager, we are afforded the opportunity to enhance that trend by making them double-digit underdogs!
GREEN BAY -2.5
With quarterback Mac Jones (ankle) out indefinitely, the Patriots will turn to veteran Brian Hoyer. New England, who is 0-4-1 ATS in their last five road games, will face a stout Packers defense that has only surrendered two touchdowns in the last two games. Green Bay, who has won 14 consecutive regular-season home games, owns an impressive 11-3 ATS mark over that span at Lambeau Field. Instead of needing to win by double-digits with the 9.5-point spread, the middle leg of this ticket will only need to win by a field goal in order to cash.
The final leg of our teaser will look to target a bitter NFC East rivalry. Washington quarterback Carson Wentz, who is tied with Joe Burrow as the most-sacked (15) signal-caller in the NFL, will now face a ferocious Cowboys pass rush. Micah Parsons (4) and Demarcus Lawrence (3) anchor a Dallas defense that leads the NFL in sacks (13). The Cowboys, who swept the two games against the Commanders last season while also covering the number, have won seven of the last 10 meetings overall. More importantly for bettors, the Cowboys are 7-3 ATS over that span. Instead of needing to win the game by more than three points, we are afforded the benefit of making the Cowboys 4-point home underdogs.
