UAB Blazers

UAB head men's basketball coach Jerod Haase, who guided the Blazers to the 2015 Conference USA Tournament championship and into the third round of the NCAA Tournament, has received a new six-year contract worth $1 million per year.

The second round of the NCAA Tournament begins Thursday and includes a matchup pitting the 14th-seeded UAB Blazers against the third-seeded Iowa State Cyclones in South Regional action from the KFC Yum! Center.

Returning to work after a seven-day holiday break, the 20th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels will play host to the UAB Blazers in a non-conference matchup at the Dean E. Smith Center on Saturday afternoon.

In the consolation side of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament bracket, the UAB Blazers and the 18th-ranked Florida Gators will do battle at Imperial Arena on Thursday night.
