With three matchups between top 10 teams on the schedule heading into this past weekend, we knew we were going to learn a lot more about how this college football season would eventually shake out. We learned that Clemson and Michigan were every bit the contenders that we thought they were.
Week 5 of the 2016 college football season produced several big performances and memorable moments. Clemson edged Louisville in a Saturday night thriller, Washington dominated Stanford on Friday night, Tennessee defeated Georgia on a last-second Hail Mary touchdown pass, Michigan knocked off Wisconsin in a defensive slugfest, and North Carolina upset Florida State in Tallahassee.
It’s becoming harder and harder to buy into the idea of Clay Helton as a long-term solution to USC’s coaching woes. As each week passes, USC looks more and more out of sorts and disheveled. By contrast, Arizona State is a well-oiled machine sitting at a perfect 4-0 on the season.
