It’s fair to say that back in the preseason no one predicted these two teams — who went a combined 2–14 in the league in 2012 — to meet in the SEC Championship Game. Auburn completed the unlikely worst-to-first journey with a stunning win over Alabama last Saturday afternoon. The Tigers were outgained by more than 100 yards and did not force a turnover yet somehow found a way to beat the No. 1 team in the nation.

True college football fans like to examine and dissect statistics, whether it's a quarterback's completion percentage or a team's winning record on the road. We, however, love stats. With that in mind, we put together some of the strangest, most amazing, and just plain cool numbers for the two teams in the SEC title game, Auburn and Missouri.

They have celebrated one conference championship in the history of Kent State’s football program. One. Oklahoma, this ain’t. In 1972, the Golden Flashes won five of their last six, including a season-ending triumph over Toledo that clinched the title and earned a Tangerine Bowl berth.

 

It couldn’t have come at a more important time in school history.
