Auburn Football: Ranking the Toughest Games on the Tigers' Schedule

The 2018 season was a full-on roller-coaster ride for the Auburn Tigers and the War Eagle faithful. The campaign started off in style, knocking off then-No. 6 Washington, but a heartbreaking 22-21 loss to No. 12 LSU in Week 3 heralded the start of an up-and-down campaign. The good news is that the 63-14 Music City Bowl thumping of Purdue coupled with the experience gained and a dash of some fantastic freshman talent has the team and fan base excited about the upcoming 2019 season.

Auburn Football: Tigers' 2019 Schedule Analysis

Just two seasons after taking down bitter rival Alabama to claim a share of the SEC West title and play in the SEC Championship Game, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn faces a tough season in front of a demanding fan base. The Tigers scrapped and clawed their way to an 8-5 (3-5 SEC) showing in 2018 but fell short of expectations among the loyalists.

Alabama's Red Zone Performance the Difference in Iron Bowl Win Over Auburn

There’s one simple stat that tells the story of Alabama’s 55–44 Iron Bowl victory. And at first glance, it appears that Auburn did quite well executing its offense in the red zone. After, all the Tigers scored on seven of their eight trips inside the Alabama 20-yard line. But five of those seven scores ended in field goals, including four of fewer than 25 yards. Auburn had seven possessions that went 60 yards or more — an amazing feat against the Alabama defense — but only two of those seven ended with a touchdown.

SEC 2013 Season Awards and All-Conference Team

The 2013 season was one of the most unpredictable we have seen in the SEC in quite some time. The two teams that met in the league title game — Auburn and Missouri — combined to record a 2–14 record in conference play last season. Florida, which went 11–2 last season, lost its last seven games and finished with the program’s first losing record since 1979. And Texas A&M, a preseason top-five team in many polls, only managed to win four SEC games in what figures to be Johnny Manziel’s last season in College Station.

2013 SEC Championship Preview and Prediction: Auburn vs. Missouri

It’s fair to say that back in the preseason no one predicted these two teams — who went a combined 2–14 in the league in 2012 — to meet in the SEC Championship Game. Auburn completed the unlikely worst-to-first journey with a stunning win over Alabama last Saturday afternoon. The Tigers were outgained by more than 100 yards and did not force a turnover yet somehow found a way to beat the No. 1 team in the nation.
