The NBA season is here, which means it’s time for fantasy basketball. Only one team will win your league, but everyone can be a winner with a good, clever and, most of all, funny fantasy basketball team name. Pop culture references? Of course. Dirty jokes? Even better. Hard core trolling? That’s the name of the name game. Here’s our list of suggestions for the NBA season:
Keith Olbermann is usually the one getting sports fans worked up at night, but with Ryen Russillo filling it, he more than gladly took on the role.
The radio host gave an almost six-minute speech about LeBron James and his greatness, and that the haters should stop hating. Russillo also continues to ruffle feathers by bringing in up Michael Jordan in comparison.
"There's zero gap between Jordan and James as players," Russillo said. "Talent-wise they're on the same level."
The Los Angeles Lakers are facing a crucial offseason. After missing the playoffs — and not even whiffing them — for two straight seasons, they’ve got a lot of work to do if they’re going to come close to living up to their dazzling franchise legacy.
"You know him," Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott said to reporters Monday — and there was no doubt about who he meant by him. "It's real difficult. He's such a competitor. He wants to go out there and play every minute that he can. The mind is willing, but sometimes the body is not.”
Kobe Bryant has made quite the career out of impersonating Michael Jordan. Bryant’s studious, obsessive emulation of MJ’s form of isolation basketball has made him the league’s most famous, prized hero-baller since His Airness hung up his ever-famous shoes (for the third and final time) in 2003.
