Forty-one years ago today in 1974, the NFL granted Seattle a team as part of the expansion process that brought the league from 26 to 28 teams. They joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that year in the NFL and began playing in the 1976 season.
The NFL Combine is under way, so it’s a good time to take a look at what each team might be looking for in Indianapolis. Keep in mind these could change once teams start adding free agents on March 10, so we’ll revisit this just before the Draft in late April.
There’s plenty on the line tonight when the Seattle Seahawks take on the Arizona Cardinals on NBC. Not only is the NFC West Division title hanging in the balance, but the top seed in the conference could be as well.
The sizzling Seattle Seahawks will go for a third straight victory over the struggling San Francisco 49ers this afternoon on FOX. Seattle (9-4) shined in the Thanksgiving nightcap, beating San Francisco (7–6) 19-3 just two weeks ago. Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick struggled, in particular, completing just 16-of-29 passes (55.2 percent) for a season-low 121 yards, zero TDs and two INTs for a season-low 36.7 passer rating.
One of the NFL’s most heated rivalries will serve as the finishing course for this season’s Thanksgiving football feast when the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers wrap up the action on NBC. A rematch of last season’s NFC Conference Championship Game, the Seahawks and 49ers both enter this game at 7-4, two games behind NFC West leader Arizona.
The Arizona Cardinals will try and add to their NFC West lead when they take on the Seattle Seahawks this afternoon on FOX. Drew Stanton has done an admirable job for the Cardinals (9-1) while subbing for the injured Carson Palmer (knee). Over the past two weeks, Stanton has completed 24-of-37 passes for 391 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions while closing out a 31–14 win over St.
Three is the magic number for tonight’s NFC West tilt between San Francisco and St. Louis on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.” The 49ers (3-2) are trying to extend their winning streak to three games, while the Rams (1-3) are hoping to avoid their third straight loss.
