New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Rosenberg and Maodo Lo each scored 15 points, as the Columbia Lions downed the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 69-56, in the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at Levien Gymnasium.
Rosenberg and Lo combined to shoot 6-of-11 from 3-point range for Columbia (21-12), which will await its quarterfinal-round opponent once the tournament reseeds at the conclusion of the second round. Steve Frankoski added 11 points off the bench, Cory Osetkowski netted 10 and Rosenberg handed out seven assists.
Ray Lee paced all scorers with 26 points as EMU's (22-15) season came to a close. Glenn Bryant and Karrington Ward pitched in 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The teams were evenly matched in the first half, with Columbia shooting 47.6 percent from the field to EMU's 46.2 percent. Lee knocked down a pair of free- throws late in the opening stanza to tie the score at 28-28 going into the halftime locker room.
The Eagles held a six-point lead with 9:10 to play, but the Lions took control of the contest with a 22-5 run.
Columbia knocked down 10-of-21 from 3-point range and finished with 18 assists on 22 made baskets.
