Cambridge, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandyn Curry tallied 17 points, six assists and six rebounds to lead the Harvard Crimson to a 61-45 victory over the Dartmouth Big Green in the Ivy League opener for both sides at Lavietes Pavilion.
Steve Moundou-Missi added 16 points and two steals for Harvard (14-2, 1-0 Ivy) as it improved to 6-0 at home on the season. As a team, the Crimson converted 19-of-24 attempts at the free-throw line.
Gabas Maldunas paced the Big Green (7-7, 0-1) with 23 points and six rebounds. The loss was the second in a row for Dartmouth.
Maldunas connected on 6-of-8 shots from the floor in the first half, but Dartmouth went into the intermission trailing, 30-27, after it hit on just 1- of-4 attempts from 3-point range. The Crimson led at the break despite being limited to 39.1 percent efficiency from the field in the opening 20 minutes of the contest.
The Big Green could not keep up in the second period due to their 30 percent shooting from the floor. Curry scored all of his points after halftime to power a very dominant second half for Harvard.
The Crimson converted Dartmouth's 18 turnovers in 24 points and also held a 15-7 edge in bench points.
