Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Walt Lemon Jr. netted 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting as the Bradley Braves edged out the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers, 63-54, in Missouri Valley Conference action at Gentile Arena.
Tyshon Pickett scored 13 points and narrowly missed out on a double-double with nine rebounds for Bradley (10-14, 5-6 MVC). Omari Grier chipped in 11 points in the win. The Braves have won two of their last three games.
Milton Doyle led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds for Loyola-Chicago (8-15, 3-8), but turned the ball over six times. Devon Turk contributed 13 points and five boards in the loss. The Ramblers have lost their last three in a row and five of their last six.
Loyola-Chicago took a 28-26 lead into the intermission after connecting on 35.7 percent of its shot attempts in the first half. Bradley shot just 30.8 percent from the floor in the frame.
The Ramblers stayed consistent from the floor, connecting on 32.1 percent of their shots in the second half. Bradley upped its percentage to 40.7 percent, and went 13-of-19 from the free-throw line, to grab the lead.
The Braves had the edge in points off turnovers, 15-7, and from the free-throw line, 20-9. The Ramblers held the advantage in rebounding, 49-35.
