Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Bryant McIntosh tallied 17 points and six assists as the Northwestern Wildcats topped the Minnesota Golden Gophers, 72-66, in a Big Ten Conference clash at Williams Arena.
Tre Demps logged 11 points and seven assists for the Wildcats (12-14, 3-10 Big Ten), who have won back-to-back contests. Alex Olah (11 points), Nathan Taphorn (11) and Scottie Lindsey (10) all reached double figures.
Nate Mason knocked down 15 points to lead the Golden Gophers (16-11, 5-9), who have dropped back-to-back games. Andre Hollins recorded 12 points and six assists, while Joey King and DeAndre Mathieu tallied 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The Golden Gophers shot an even 50.0 percent from the field in the first half, while their opponent shot 40.0 percent, hitting 9-of-17 from the perimeter as the team went to the break knotted at 36-36.
In the second half the hosts dipped to 35.7 percent from the floor, while the visitors improved to 48.0 percent, including 6-of-15 from beyond the arc. The Wildcats led by as many as 10 points midway through the period.
The Wildcats outscored the opposition 16-12 in points off turnovers in a game that featured 12 lead changes.
