Missoula, MT (SportsNetwork.com) - Jack Gibbs netted 28 points and dished out eight assists as the Davidson Wildcats outlasted the Montana Grizzlies, 110-99, in an offensive non-conference battle at Dahlberg Arena.
Gibbs shot 7-of-13 in the contest, and made a perfect 12-of-12 from the free- throw line in the win. Brian Sullivan netted 22 points and Tyler Kalinoski added 21 points with seven rebounds for Davidson (7-1). Jordan Barham added 16, and Peyton Aldridge chipped in with 14 points and six rebounds.
Martin Breunig scored a game-high 30 points with six rebounds for Montana (3-5), while Jordan Gregory was close behind with 29 points. Jermaine Edmonds contributed 11 points, and Mario Dunn added 10 in the high-scoring defeat.
Davidson connected on 53.1 percent of its shots in the first half, including 5-of-13 from 3-point range, which allowed the Wildcats to take a 45-42 lead into the midway break. Montana netted 53.6 percent of its attempts in the frame, adding in 7-of-7 from the free-throw line.
The Wildcats heated up to 66.7 percent shooting in the second half, making an incredible 28-of-30 from the charity stripe as well. The Grizzlies hit on 58.1 percent from the field, but couldn't keep pace with the 65 second-half points for Davidson.
The Wildcats outscored the Grizzlies from the free-throw line, 34-22, and held a 31-23 edge in rebounding in the victory.
