Lincoln, NE (SportsNetwork.com) - Terran Petteway scored 20 points and dished out five assists as his Nebraska Cornhuskers outlasted the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 65-49, in a Big Ten Conference battle at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Shavon Shields contributed 11 points for Nebraska (9-6, 1-2 Big Ten), which has ended a two-game losing streak. Shields also grabbed six rebounds and recorded three steals.
Bishop Daniels tallied 12 points and five rebounds to lead Rutgers (9-7, 1-2). Kadeem Jack chipped in with 11 points and six boards in the loss, which was the second in three games for the Knights.
Nebraska came out in the first half and shot 52.2 percent from the floor to take a 26-23 lead into the intermission. Rutgers hit on 36.4 percent shooting, but made 6-of-11 from the free-throw line.
The Huskers were able to pull away in the second half thanks to 46.9 percent shooting, adding in a 4-of-8 mark from 3-point range. The Scarlet Knights connected on 33.3 percent from the field in the period.
Nebraska held a 36-21 advantage in points in the paint over Rutgers, and forced 19 Knights turnovers that resulted in 17 points for the Huskers.
