Oxford, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Riley LaChance scored 19 points and handed out eight assists as the Vanderbilt Commodores captured an 86-77 win over the Ole Miss Rebels in SEC action at Tad Smith Coliseum.
Also scoring in double figures for the Commodores (19-12, 9-9 SEC) were Wade Baldwin IV with 15 points, to go along with eight rebounds, followed by Matthew Fisher-Davis and James Siakam with 14 points apiece, the latter clearing a game-high nine boards as the team closed out the regular season on a five-game win streak. Before fouling out, Luke Kornet pitched in with 10 points off the bench.
The Rebels (20-11, 11-7), losers of three of the last four, were led by MJ Rhett with 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor. Jarvis Summers accounted for 16 points, Stefan Moody 14, Sebastian Saiz 12 points and Ladarius White 10 in the setback.
Ole Miss managed to move out to an early three point lead, but the team shot only 37.9 percent from the floor in the first half, converting a woeful 1-of-9 behind the 3-point line, en route to a 46-33 deficit at the break.
After converting 54.8 percent from the field through the first 20 minutes of action, which included a sizzling 9-of-15 beyond the arc, Vandy hit on another 54.2 percent in the second half on the way to the comfortable road victory.
