Tulsa, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Farad Cobb poured in 22 points to lift the Cincinnati Bearcats to a 56-47 decision over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in an American Athletic Conference battle at the Reynolds Center.
Troy Caupain provided 12 points for the Bearcats (21-9, 12-15 AAC), who also received 13 rebounds and four blocked shots courtesy of Octavius Ellis. The victory was the fourth in a row for Cincinnati, which will conclude its regular season slate at home versus Memphis on Sunday.
Tulsa (21-8, 14-3) had its four-game winning streak snapped despite a strong showing by Rashad Ray, who provided a spark off the bench with 15 points on 5- of-7 shooting from the field. James Woodard finished with 12 points. The Golden Hurricane will play SMU at Moody Coliseum for the AAC regular season title on Sunday.
Cincinnati managed to build a 25-13 lead by the 4:29 mark of the first period before it took a 27-20 lead into halftime. The Bearcats tallied 12 points off turnovers and converted 46.2 percent of their field goal tries before the break. Tulsa was limited to 28.6 percent efficiency from the floor over the opening 20 minutes of the contest.
The Golden Hurricane improved to make good on 40 percent of their field goal attempts after the intermission. Cincinnati sank 8-of-15 shots at the charity stripe and never trailed at any point during the second half.
The Bearcats enjoyed a 40-30 advantage in total rebounds.
