Logan, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Darius Perkins and Julion Pearre each netted 19 points to help lead the Utah State Aggies to an 85-79 victory over the Fresno State Bulldogs in a Mountain West Conference battle at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
David Collette chipped in with 16 points and six rebounds for Utah State (16-10, 9-5 MWC), which has won four consecutive games. Jalen Moore narrowly missed a double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds in the win.
Julien Lewis netted 21 points to pace all scorers for Fresno State (12-15, 7-7). Marvelle Harris chipped in with 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds, while Cezar Guerrero added 14 points and Paul Watson tallied 12 with seven boards in the loss, which was the second in a row for the Bulldogs.
Utah State connected on 44.8 percent of its first-half field goal tries, including 4-of-10 from 3-point range, to take a 34-30 lead into the intermission. Fresno State buried 42.3 percent of its attempts in the opening period.
The Aggies boosted their accuracy to 64 percent from the floor in the second half, adding in a 13-of-18 margin from the free-throw line. The Bulldogs also increased their shooting touch to 54.8 percent in the frame, but couldn't pull out the win on the road.
Utah State outscored Fresno State from 3-point range, 30-21, and held a 14-7 advantage in bench scoring in the win.
