Bowling Green, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Western Kentucky had three players register 17 points as the Hilltoppers defeated the Florida Atlantic Owls, 71-68, in a Conference USA tilt at E.A. Diddle Arena.
For the Hilltoppers (17-10, 10-5 C-USA), Trency Jackson, George Fant, and TJ Price all scored 17 as WKU ended a four-game losing streak.
Marquan Botley scored a game-high 18 points and dished out five assists for the Owls (8-18, 1-14). Jackson Trapp added 10 points and Justin Raffington chipped in with 11 rebounds, but shot only 1-of-8 from the floor and turned the ball over five times.
The Owls shot 50.0 percent from the field and converted on 7-of-9 shots at the free-throw line as it took a 32-29 lead at the half. The Hilltoppers converted 36.7 percent from the field and connected on 4-of-11 shots from beyond in the period.
In the second half WKU shot 57.7 percent from the field and outscored FAU 24-10 in the paint, on the way to the three-point win. The Owls shot 46.4 percent from the field and connected on 7-of-13 chances beyond the arc.
WKU outscored the Owls in the paint, 38-20, and limited the visitors to only four offensive rebounds.
