Laramie, WY (SportsNetwork.com) - Marvelle Harris netted 23 points with five rebounds to lead the Fresno State Bulldogs past the Wyoming Cowboys, 64-59, in a Mountain West Conference tilt at Arena-Auditorium.
Julien Lewis chipped in with 13 points for Fresno State (13-15, 8-7 MWC), which ended a two-game skid and spoiled the 500th game for the Cowboys at Arena-Auditorium. Paul Watson hit clutch free throws down the stretch for the Bulldogs, and finished with eight points and six boards.
Josh Adams scored 22 points to pace Wyoming (21-7, 10-5), while Riley Grabau added 11 points. Larry Nance Jr. was close to a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds. The Cowboys ended a two-game win streak with the defeat.
Fresno State took a 25-21 lead into the midway break after both teams shot poorly in the opening frame. The Bulldogs made 37.9 percent of their tries in the half, while Wyoming connected on 33.3 percent of its attempts.
Fresno State boosted its shooting accuracy to 42.9 percent in the second half, and made 12-of-16 from the free-throw line to stay ahead. The Cowboys converted 59.1 percent of their shots in the period, but couldn't catch the visitors in the loss.
Fresno State held a 17-2 advantage in points scored off turnovers, and held a 14-9 edge in bench scoring in the win.
