4,000-Yard ACC Quarterback Entering Transfer Portal: Report
Thirteen college football quarterbacks have entered the NCAA transfer portal since the end of October, and another one is set to join them.
UNLV’s Matthew Skula was the first to leave his school after a public falling out after unfulfilled NIL promises, followed by Georgia Southern’s Dexter Williams II and Kennesaw State’s Braden Bohannon, whose father Brian Bohannon was fired as the school’s head coach.
Now, Virginia sophomore Anthony Colandrea plans to become the 14th QB to enter the transfer portal after two years with the Cavaliers, according to a report from On3. Colandrea had offers from Middle Tennessee State, Bowling Green, Florida Atlantic, Kentucky and USF coming out of high school.
A three-star passer from Lakewood High School in Saint Petersburg, Florida, Colandrea split time with senior Tony Muskett in 2023 before taking over as the full-time starter this season. He was 5-6 as the starter this season and 1-6 as the starter last season.
The 20-year-old QB has thrown for 4,083 yards, 23 touchdowns and 20 interceptions in 19 career games. His departure leaves Virginia with juniors Grady Brosterhous and Gavin Frakes plus freshmen Alexander Brady and Boone Lourd.
The Cavaliers also have two three-star QBs in their 2025 recruiting class — Bjorn Jurgenson from Bishop Moore Catholic in Orland, Florida, and Cole Greer from Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts.
Other notable signal-callers who’ve also entered the portal include Charlotte’s Max Brown, Central Michigan’s Bert Emanuel Jr., Holy Cross’ Joe Pesansky, Yale’s Grant Jordan, Gardner-Webb’s Tyler Riddell, McNeese State’s Kamden Sixkiller, Valparaiso’s Michael Appel, Northern Colorado’s Jonah Chong, Cornell’s Chad Martini and Nicholls State’s Pat McQuaide.
