Virginia Tech’s defense turned in another dominant effort in Saturday’s win over North Carolina. The Hokies scored on a fumble return by lineman Ricky Walker, and safety Reggie Floyd returned an interception 69 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. Foster’s defense limited North Carolina to just 172 yards (2.7 ypp), forced three turnovers and recorded 13 tackles for a loss and six sacks. Outside of a 70-yard drive in the third quarter, no North Carolina possession extended longer than 50 yards.

Freshman of the Week (Offense): Anthony Brown, QB, Boston College

This is the second week in a row a player from Boston College has claimed freshman of the week honors on offense. Brown completed 19 of 24 throws for 275 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 32 yards in Saturday’s 41-10 victory over Virginia.

Freshman of the Week (Defense): Dorian Etheridge, LB, Louisville

Etheridge recorded five tackles in Saturday’s win in Tallahassee over Florida State.

Team of the Week: Miami

The Hurricanes remained unbeaten thanks to a 27-19 victory over Syracuse. Unlike the last two games, Miami didn’t require some last-minute heroics on offense to win. Instead, the defense made a key stop with just under two minutes remaining to seal the victory and move the Hurricanes to 6-0. The offense recorded 480 yards, while the defense limited Syracuse to 4.3 yards per play and forced four turnovers.

Unsung Hero of the Week: Darrin Hall, RB, Pitt

Hall entered Saturday’s game against Duke with just 108 rushing yards in 2017. The junior exceeded that total against the Blue Devils, gashing the defense for 254 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries.
