Adrian Martinez: 15 Potential Transfer Destinations for the Former Nebraska QB

Nebraska Football: How Adrian Martinez Rebounds Starting This Weekend

Nebraska QB Adrian Martinez entered the transfer portal on Thursday

Nebraska quarterback Adrian Martinez entered college football's transfer portal on Thursday, departing Lincoln after four years with the program. Martinez played in 39 games with the Cornhuskers and accounted for 10,792 total yards of offense. The California native's play was up-and-down at times, but Martinez is an experienced option who could help a team right away next year.

Where could Martinez land as a transfer? Here are 15 teams to watch (in alphabetical order):

15 Potential Transfer Destinations for Adrian Martinez

First-year coach Jedd Fisch brought in two quarterbacks through the portal last offseason, so more additions wouldn't be a surprise for 2022.

There's some uncertainty about Bo Nix's future with the program. If he leaves, coach Bryan Harsin will have to add more depth to the quarterback room.

Ball State
Drew Plitt is set to depart after a solid career in Muncie. Could coach Mike Neu look into the portal for another quarterback? Northern Illinois landed Rocky Lombardi from Michigan State last year, which paid big-time dividends for the program in terms of a division title.

Could coach Karl Dorrell bring in competition to push Brendon Lewis?

Fresno State
Martinez is from Fresno, Calif., so there's a natural tie to the area. Fresno State will have a new coach after Kalen DeBoer was hired at Washington, and quarterback Jake Haener entered the transfer portal. There's potentially an opportunity to start right away here.

Kansas State
Skylar Thompson is set to depart the program after the 2021 season marked his senior campaign, leaving Will Howard, Jaren Lewis and Jake Rubley to compete for the job. Former Nebraska receiver Kade Warner is also in Manhattan, so Martinez could look to reunite with an old teammate.
