On Monday, the Associated Press released its official Top 25 Poll. It's the last to do so of the major publications, meaning we now have a good idea of what most top-25 polls look like. An analyst has since compiled a list of five "overrated" college football teams ahead of the 2022 season.

Per Brad Crawford of 247Sports, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas A&M and Texas are the five most overrated teams in the preseason top 25 polls right now.

The Spartans have an average poll ranking of 14.5, Oregon 11.5, Notre Dame five, Texas A&M 6.5 and Texas at 22.5. All five teams lost key players to the NFL earlier this year and will have to replace a ton of production.

It's also worth noting Notre Dame and Oregon are entering years with first-year head coaches in Marcus Freeman and Dan Lanning.

"The schedule does Freeman no favors in Year 1 with important games against BYU, Clemson and USC — all opponents ranked inside the preseason AP Top 25. A loss to the Buckeyes and two wins over that aforementioned trio means a 10-2 finish and ranking outside of the top 5 during championship weekend. That spells overrated from the outset," said Crawford, via 247Sports.

Crawford added on Oregon, "There's no doubt Oregon is one of the favorites in the conference, but placing the Ducks near the top 10 with a first-year coach after a complete philosophical switch is risky. There's a chance the Ducks could start the season 1-2 and be outside of the rankings by the end of September if they falter against Georgia and BYU early."

Down the road, Notre Dame and Oregon could be powerhouses in college football. But in first years for Freeman and Lanning, it could prove tougher than expected.
